When I downloading apps from Google Play Store, why does it show “download pending”?

The reason why it is saying “Download Pending” is because play store can download one app at a time and creates a queue to maintain all your download requests and download them one by one.

So, check your play store, it must be downloading some other app or waiting for WI-FI network to complete the pending download or update of app.

Its simple, because some other application is already being download or installing. So it makes a queue of requested apps to get installed and make their status as "Download pending" while first is installing.

The Google Play Store can download only one app at a time. So, when you download an app, if there's an app already downloading or updating it shows “Download Pending” and the download will start after the update or previous download is completed.
